The average American spends 90,000 hours (10+ years) of their life at work (not including travel time). Many work overtime or multiple jobs to provide for their families, pay their bills, and keep up with the Joneses.

Countless hours at work aside, experts also suggest we aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Missing the mark may result in suboptimal health or performance. Add in time for parenting responsibilities, cleaning, shopping, walking the dog, the list goes on. Where do we find time to focus on our health?

Another issue is the prevalence of chronic pain in the United States. In 2019, the CDC reported that 20.4% of adults are living with chronic pain, with 7.4% have chronic pain that frequently limits their life or work activities (referred to as high-impact chronic pain).

More statistics: 10% of the American workforce works physically demanding jobs. 25% of the workforce is over the age of 55. Businesses in the United States are paying over $1 billion per week in injury claims. There are an estimated 6.6 million orthopedic surgeries performed per year. The average American is spending $11,000 per year on healthcare costs.

Most of our adult lives are spent at work. At REPS, we believe it is reasonable to give employees the resources and opportunity to improve their health.
